David Collins is specialist coach, facilitator and consultant with an extensive background in the financial sector. He sits on the panel of external coaches for Investec as well as Nedbank, but also has working relationships with JPMorgan, CITI Bank as well as ABSA and Standard Bank.
David was certified in the Co-active Coaching model in 2008 and has been coaching full time since then. He is currently completing his Masters in Business and Executive coaching at the Wits Business School.
David has over 20 years working experience in the corporate world working mainly within the banking sector. Over the years he has worked within or for the following corporations: JPMorgan Chase, Fleming Martin, IBM , Accenture , Old Mutual and Daiwa Securities. He has worked in London, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
He has been involved in many high level projects and has been in the middle of company take over’s, mergers as well as disaster recovery situations, which has given him a very clear understanding of corporate culture, its structures and environment. He has first-hand experience of the challenges that corporations and their management teams experience in the ever-changing global economy which in turn assists him in creating authentic relationships with his clients that are specifically aligned to business needs as well as personal empowerment outcomes.
Additionally David is one of the founding members of Nerdworks (PTY) the holding company that manages the Dial a Nerd and Dial a Nerd Corporate operations. This has given him knowledge and insight into the world of the young evolving entrepreneur, where the structures of the established corporation and its culture inhabit the success of the startup.
Apart from his vast experience in corporate and his first-hand experience in new business start ups, David has a keen sense of social responsibility and its importance to the sustainability of our country and economy. To this end, David started SHARP, a primary care facility for people suffering from chemical substance abuse. He then went on to be the founder of the U-ACT Trust (Ubuntu Academy of Coaching & Training), a Section 18A company whose aim is to incorporate the skills and success of coaching in the field of Recovery Coaching. Within this environment, David honed his strong people skills in the area of listening, intuition and personal empowerment. It is the combination of all these skills and David’s unique personality that makes him an exceptional coach.
