Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death continues the free will debate around addiction

Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s tragic relapse and death after years of sobriety has sparked debate on both sides of the fence. It’s difficult for people who are not addicts to understand that addiction is not about free will or deciding to not take that first drink or drug. We, as addicts, are fundamentally different in the way our bodies process drink or drugs.
