Taking responsibility

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

This is a truthful thought to keep with you when you start your healing process. In many cases of recovery denial and blame takes place a popular one I have notices among patients is “my parents are druggies and therefore I am it’s the environment I grew up in”
This is the wrong thought to run with as YOUR THOUGHTS BECOME YOUR WORDS……… if from a young age you could see that what is going on around you is wrong you should change your mindset.
Yes, where you are now is not a good place for you or people around you and it’s easier to shift blame and responsibility and not take responsibility for your actions. But the truth is YOUR WORDS BECOME YOUR ACTION……
Your negative words make you a negative person which makes your actions negative. Note that I use the words YOU and YOUR not your mom or your dad.
You are a person with your own personality. Yes, you have their blood and DNA but this does not mean they control your habits. They don’t make you smoke a pipe, you choose to pick up the substance and place it in your body. YOUR ACTIONS BECOME YOUR HABITS….
If you tend to use every day it becomes a habit and habits are difficult to break, especially bad ones but your thoughts are where it all starts. Develop good habits every day.
If you have good habit it will link to your values. You values are important because it defines the person you become it sets your destiny. NO, YOUR PARENTS DON’T SET YOUR DESTINY…… The only person that can say you are a bad person is YOU. It all starts with your thoughts, words and deeds
